My Garden

This is the first year I am going to attempt a real vegetable garden. Sure, in the past I have had a tomato plant or two, one year I think I tried (and failed) at peppers and cucumbers. But as of today, my herb garden is planted and watered... The rock border is still in progress.
Doesn't look like much yet

I am hoping that this weekend  J will help me dig out a sizable place in his back yard for my vegetable garden! Then it will be off to Home Depot. Sure I would love to spend hours perusing the various MA and CT nurseries and garden centers but this girl is on a tight budget and Home Depot is having an amazing sale on herbs and veggies this week!

I am aiming for a mostly organic summer. Processed foods will avoided when possible, and I can't wait to see what I can do with what I grow. Hopefully, we can find some decent farmers markets in the Monson area! Suggestions are welcome!

I have a list of veggies that I would like to plant which include corn, beans, onions, tomatoes, carrots, peppers, cucumbers and eggplants. My friend Christal had a helpful hint: plant the beans around the corn so that they will grow up the corn stalks and you won't have to post them! We shall see how that works! I have wavered on the lettuce aspect, but hey if it is on sale, I am willing to try it, especially with salads being a big hit in the house of late! I know it is a bit early to plant, traditionally they say Memorial Day, but I can't pass up this amazing weather and if there is a chance of frost they will be covered by a handy sheet!
